I was born on 10 th of March 1982 in Berlin-West. I grew up and went to school there. After high school graduation I went to ESMOD fashion school in Berlin-Kreuzberg. I worked on my graduation collection within an internship at Triumph lingerie company in Munich in 2004.I moved to New York City and worked as an assistant designer for two fashion brands in Manhattan and Brooklyn for a year.
Back in Berlin I opened a small fabric store in Kreuzberg, offered sewing classes and customized clothing.
I realized that having a retail store was not in line with my dream to work as a fashion designer. This is why I moved to vivid Neukölln in January 2008. At that time there was a start-up atmosphere that motivated me. I was sewing for artists like graphic designer Paul Snowden, who took part in creating my company name JR sewing.
At the end of 2008 I presented my first own designs at the Neukölln Fashion Weekend. In addition to self-sewn pieces I offered silk-screened t-shirts. In 2009 I started selling them through the internet at the e-commerce website DaWanda.
In 2010 my “IS MIR EGAL, ICH LASS DAS JETZT SO!” T-Shirt became a bestseller. (It translates into “I don´t care, that´ll do!”). And I started to cooperate with stores and e-commerce websites throughout Germany.
Within the last four years I learned how to run a business in Germany: I dealt with accounting, taxes, rip-offs of my designs, lawsuits, salaries, insurances, production, sales, distribution and marketing.
Again I was close to get off track. This is why since 2014 I focus on design works for JR sewing and other fashion labels and start production of JR sewing fashion and accessories.
